Resistance is Futile

(is it 'fu till' or fuTILE? Gotta be a fantasy/sci fi enthusiast to appreciate the difference)

It started on Groundhog Day, my whole-house remodeling.

Btw, anyone interested in a slightly used, 93 year old claw foot cast iron tub (300 lbs), matching pedestal sink, and kitchen sink with drain? U pick Up.

The lessons learned are many. Most of it is in patience. Because there is a lot of waiting involved.

Waiting for the concrete to cure.
Waiting for the contractor to finish another job.

Waiting on the kitchen cabinets to arrive.

Now I'm waiting for the countertop guy.

Then I'll be waiting for the installation of the backsplash.

After that, YAY! I can actually use my new kitchen.

Until then, Unicorn Bell and our query contest takes precedence. Our Schools In is going very well. I am humbled by the company I keep. The other moderators amaze me and I feel that I am left in their dust.

Also - as if I don't have anything to do - I am taking part in a new blog fest over at Alex's House

And a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!

Is everyone having a great summer? Ready for more fun?

  1. Thanks for mentioning my blogfest! And renovations take forever.
Oh, and I appreciate the difference.

  2. Definitely "fu till" LOL And I bet your renovations will be great when done, and worth the wait! Sounds like a fun blogfest too. Enjoy the last coupla weeks of summer!

  3. It's like waiting is the main consistent thing. All other things happen like a flash in the pan. But then you're renovations will be done and the smile on your face may become perpetual.

  4. I always have a great summer - as long as we get an actual summer like we are this year. I love summer. It effing rocks! Are we going to get to see the after pics of your remodel? I love before and afters :)

  5. I am in the middle of a bedroom remodel. DIY and it is a pain in the butt. Good luck!

  6. Quoting Tom Petty: "The waiting is the hardest part." Looks like it's gonna be awesome when it's done, though! After pics, please :)

  7. wow, thats why i love watching those remodel shows - the waiting is all edited out!
its shaping up! looks great so far! i could use a pretty backsplash!

and call one of those restoring gus on the history channel or something! probably worth money

  8. I know so many people doing remodels this summer. It will be my turn next summer and I hate the waiting thing.

  9. Hope the kitchen sink and bathtub goes to a good home :)

*Thanks* again for your help with my query over at Unicorn Bell... after your edits/suggestions, I went from 468 words to 299, and it all fits on one page :)

  10. I don't envy you all that remodeling work. But it does look like it's going to be gorgeous! Hope it goes quickly for you:)

  11. looking good--so much work--the remodeling we have done through the years has had to be self done because of need--but would so love to either just move into one the way we liked or leave and let someone else have the pleasure--happy remodel :)
