IWSG - A to Z Challenge, I Haz a Sad

First Wed of Every Month
These are the continuing voyages of the Ninja Captain, AJC. His mission, to explore all new writing venues, to seek out new authors and new blogs.
To boldly go where no blogateer has gone before.
Coming together on the first Wednesday of every month for a virtual pat on the back.

A to Z.
Congratulations to all A to Z participants. You are so cool for doing it. I’m envious. And sad. I wish I could do more. But it just is not to be. I appreciate all the work and marvel at the participants’ ambition. *Big Thumbs Up*.

But I just cant do it. I feel somewhat ashamed.

I iz sorry
Don’t get me wrong. It was fun but just too much. Last year I repeated my A to Z theme, Guess the Movie. Then I discovered that not only did I use the exact same movie—Young Frankenstein—but even the very same quote as the clue that I used two years before.

DOH.

So it's a No Go this year. But still...I'm wearing my frowny face.

April 5 Question: Have you taken advantage of the annual A to Z Challenge in terms of marketing, networking, publicity for your book? What were the results?

Answer: Not so much. I like the exposure and am proud of the badges. Heaven knows we earned those, right? But I haven't pushed it.

Are you doing A to Z this year? Feeling remorseful? Wishing you could do more? *hanging my head*

  1. I'm skipping the Challenge this year but it's actually kind of a relief not having to bust out all those posts and visit blogs every day.

    1. The last two times I participated, my writing fell off drastically. Possibly a coincidence but EGad!

  2. No need to feel ashamed! We can only do what we can do. I only participated a few times. I might do it again but not this time around.

    1. It is very difficult. Not the posts but trying to visit the blogs. I still admire the people who do it.

  3. No worries, Huntress. I have never tried A to Z. So bravo for you to even do it when you can.
This is my first time here, so I will follow your blogging journey. All best to you!

  4. That's funny you used the same movie and quote! I kept going back and making sure I hadn't featured the same thing in a recent year. Easy to forget.
No Challenge for me this year and I am not sorry.

  5. Don't be ashamed. I'm not doing A to Z this year. I didn't do it last year either (except for on Unicorn Bell and the IWSG website). A to Z requires a lot of energy and time, and I definitely felt like I didn't have it this year.

  6. I skipped the challenge this year, too. It's such a huge time commitment, and I just couldn't do it this year. But in years past, when I have participated, I generally ended up using the exact same post for Z every single year. :)

  7. Considering how hard Y is, it was bound to happen. No worries. Call it a repost ;)

I'm posting for the letters, but I have yet to do the blog hop portion, so I'll call this year a fail. Maybe next week I'll get to some visiting...

  8. No worries, the A to Z is a huge commitment. I did it for two years but since then I've just got too much else to do to spend a whole month on it. Writing and posting IMO is not even the biggest part - that would be visiting and commenting lots of other blogs because this is social media, right?

  9. I've never tried the challenge, although I've thought about it. But the time it would take from my book writing is just too much, since I have so little time anyway. Maybe I'll accept the challenge after my first book is done, but we'll see.

So don't feel bad about not doing it this year.

  10. I have done the challenge almost every year until this one. But trying to sell my house and blogging every day was not going to work and I knew it. Now my house has sold and I am sooo glad I made the decision to sit it out this year. I may do it next year tho. I think it's fun and don't care about the marketing aspect - altho I did use my book as a theme one year...

  11. Sorry you missed the 2017 A to Z. Looks like you missed the May #IWSG post as well. Hope things are going well for you. Happy summer!

  12. Hows it going, lady? I enjoy your FB posts and glad we can stay connected there. Blogging in general seems to be too much anymore... we need to come up with a shiny new way to connect and attract attention!

    Happy Monday!
